Sunday, September 12, will be “Back to Church” Sunday for Westside.  This will provide an excellent time for you to invite family and friends who have not attended any church in a while.  It will also be a great time for Westside’s regular attendees to return to the routine of attending church each Sunday this fall.

This special day will also mark the beginning of the fall children’s ministry, with new classes starting on Sunday morning and Awana kicking off its academic year.

We will also host a Small Group Fair that day, giving you an opportunity to learn firsthand what small groups are being offered this fall.

The possibility exists for Westside Fellowship to start a Boy Scout troop in the Western Alamance community.

Before exploring this possibility and further, we need to know the level of interest among those currently attending Westside.

If you have an interest in either participating as a scout or of helping as a volunteer leader contact Chris Wells at 336-337-6421.

This fall, it is our goal that 100 percent of our members participate in small groups.  In order for us to meet this goal, we need more small group hosts and facilitators.

If you are able to host a small group at your home or are willing to facilitate the discussion portion of a group that meets at the Westside Campus, or you would like more information, contact Kurt Ward at kurt@westsidefellowship.org or 336-516-3762.

Because of recent needs by families in the local community, Westside Fellowship’s Benevolence Fund has dropped to its lowest amount this year. The fund is used to help families in a short-time financial pinch, helping with mortgage payments, rent, utilities, etc. If you would like to make a gift to the fund, you can do so by donating on-line at www.westsidefellowship.org. Just click on the “donate” button at the top right side of the page and then indicate that your gift is for “benevolence” or “local missions needs.”

In addition, there are several teens who desire to go to summer camp with the church youth group who do not have the financial means to pay. If you would like to sponsor a teen, you can provide a scholarship by donating funds for “youth camp scholarship.” You can also provide these funds by donating online. The cost is $282 per camper.

You can also contribute to either of these funds using check or cash and placing it in one of the offering boxes at the Westside Worship Center. Just be sure to indicate what your gift is for.

The Westside Praise & Worship Team has created a Facebook site that allows you to get a glimpse of upcoming songs we will soon be singing. This way, you can familiarize yourself with any new songs before arriving to worship on Sunday morning. (Visiting the site is also a great way to worship the Lord in song throughout the week.) Just log into your Facebook account and search for Westside Fellowship Worship. Once you have located the page, you can indicate that you “Like” this page by clicking on the button at the top.

In order to improve your spiritual fitness this summer, you are encouraged to attend BOTH first and second Sunday morning services this summer.  Westside is offering its basic training classes during the 9-10 a.m. service.

First service attendees will still have a time of praise and worship music. The teaching for this first service will be straight from the basic training classes of 101, 201 and 301. So attend between now and Sept. 5, and you will be a graduate of each of these classes, Discovering the Westside Family, Discovering Spiritual Maturity, and Discovering Your SHAPE for Ministry.

Summer workout participants are also encouraged to stick around for the 10:30 a.m. service, which will provide a different message each week.

Be sure to join us for the final class 301 on September 5!

Specifically, we need someone to assist with the weekly creation of the Sunday morning handout. In addition, we have a need for someone to help create short videos that are used for teaching, testimonies, message ilustrations, etc. For more info and/or to volunteer send an email to Kurt Ward at kurt@westsidefellowship.org.
