Contemporary Style...

One of the ways we do church a little differently here at Westside is through our contemporary style of worship. Steve Janicello, the worship pastor, leads a talented team of musicians – a group mixed with vocals, guitars, drums, trumpets, and keyboards – who use contemporary praise and worship songs to bring the congregation into God’s presence. Psalm 68:4a says, “Sing to God, sing praises to His name!”

True Worship...

We believe true worship is not about what we get out of it, but what we give to God through it. We worship a holy and righteous God who deserves all of the praise and all of the glory, and by joining others in singing praises to Him as a congregation, we offer up a sweet smelling incense to Him. When a person is walking closely with the Lord in obedience to Him, they live a life filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:19-20 describes what this type of person looks like. They “address one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with their heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” They worship God!

We believe that the term “worship” is actually best defined as the recognition of God’s moral authority and obedience to Him. This worship then shows up in a person’s life through singing, serving, giving thanks, etc. Worship is not just the stirring of emotions to music.  It's a life of obedience to God.

A Lifestyle...

Here at Westside, we believe that worship is an everyday lifestyle – not just a service on Sunday morning. However, the music that we sing in church is filled with truth from God’s Word and is designed to bring you into His presence so that you can express your love to the Lord through singing. He is worthy of all of our praise, and our Sunday morning goal is to do just that – praise and worship our Creator.
